Quick tip: Backup Posterous posts to your own Server

Posterous is great. But still, it means you host your posts on someone else’s server. In this case, Posterous’ servers.

So if you have some space left on your leased web server and a dormant domain (or you can use sub domain), then it is always useful to backup your blog.

You can install WordPress and use WordPress plugin like Feedwordpress and syndicate your Posterous to your WordPress blog. Or else, use Autopost feature, and set up an autopost to your self-hosted WordPress.

The downside of this, it is only effective for backing up text posts. If Posterous ever decided to delete your images hosted on their server, then it still gone.
